The DesignKayaks Awesome is designed for experienced paddlers and those looking to progress their skills in a kayak that is responsive and able to take on lively seas. The Awesome has a pronounced rocker so is super agile and high performing, ideal for instructors and thrill seekers!

At 4.75 (15ft 5in) the Design Kayaks Awesome is a mid-length kayak providing the ultimate in control and manoeuvrability even in challenging conditions and excels in the surf zone. The flattened hull profile below the cockpit gives it plenty of stability and provides a great planing surface. The pronounced bow line keeps it on track when riding the waves or paddling through choppy waters. Carefully designed cutaways either side of the foredeck enable those high angle power strokes without catching the side of the hull with your paddle. The Awesome has a lightweight and super-strong carbon seat with the option to adjust the backrest via a unique ratchet system commonly found in white water kayaks. The thigh braces are made extra wide, providing excellent contact with your kayak at all times.

Constructed from triple-layer PE to provide plenty of strength, this is a kayak you can rely on even if you like more extreme conditions as Design Kayaks have added extra material to the outer layer. With its flat bottom and very distinctive soft-chined shoulders, Awesome is truly impressive when it comes to playing with technique or using it for instruction. It can hold an impressive edge and, with its very low stern deck, is a dream to roll. Awesome has a reliable and effective skeg system from KajakSport. The control unit is easy to reach and the skeg housing is designed with extra support that keeps the skeg in check when it is in use. The cockpit rim is well reinforced and features a deep groove all around so no need to worry about the spray skirt popping during rolls and in surf. There is plenty of storage space should you want to go on some multi-day camping trips too.
