Description
The Wilderness Systems Tarpon 120 E has established itself as one of our most popular touring sit-on-top kayaks. The stable and efficient hull offers a slick ride on flat water and cuts through choppy seas really well, too. This length of kayak is significantly more efficient to paddle than the shorter ones, with more glide from every paddle stroke, you will be able to go further for less effort. It is an excellent choice for exploring the coast and accessing secluded beaches and bays or paddling up lazy rivers with enough storage to take a small BBQ and some picnic gear!
The seat is an integral part of the kayak; being a factory-fitted seat, it feels comfortable and reassuringly secure. The seat can be tailored to suit a range of paddler preferences by adjusting the height and angle of the backrest and the under-thigh support, too. This can all be done on the fly while seated in it. The base is constructed of mesh-covered vented neoprene and has plenty of padding. Unlike the seats on many sit-on touring kayaks, any splashes drain straight through and out via the scupper holes, so you won't be sitting in a puddle while you are paddling! This provides one of the most comfortable seats in any sit-on-top kayak and is perfect for those who want a touch of luxury whilst paddling.
The hatch covers are hinged, so you'll never lose them, and they have an easy-action twist locking mechanism to close them securely. The footwell is smooth for comfort and fitted with adjustable keeper footrests so you can get them in just the right position. There is a generously proportioned rear tankwell storage area for dry bags, fishing or snorkelling equipment.
The Tarpon 120 is very easy to convert to a fishing kayak - there is a place on either side just to the rear of the seat designed to fit flush mount, rod holders. If you don't want to drill into the boat, you can use the fitted Slide Trax. These are factory-fitted slide tracks fitted flush into the hull where you can attach compatible track-mount rod holders, fish finder mounts and a wide range of other accessories such as pennant flags to increase visibility on busy waterways or camera mounts if you want to video your trips. You could also add a safety light for early morning / late evening paddling. Wilderness Systems provides a Mounting Plate for an easy fit or other accessory track mounts are available from RAM Mounts & Railblaza.
